Hi Reader,

Something shifted in how audiences find organizations online - and most comms teams haven't caught up to it yet.

It's not that the fundamentals of good PR changed. It's that AI search has raised the stakes on whether your organization is doing them. When someone searches for an organization like yours - a funder, a potential customer, a partner, a journalist - they're not just scrolling results anymore. AI tools are synthesizing what's out there and deciding what to surface. If your organization isn't showing up in earned media, if your leaders aren't visible voices in your sector, if your content doesn't reflect the depth of your work - you're invisible in a way you may not even realize.

This Week’s Quick PR Tip: Check Whether Your Coverage, Credibility, and Content Are Actually Working Together

I've always built PR around three things: earned media coverage that creates real visibility, executive credibility that positions your leaders as trusted voices in your field, and content that tells the story of your mission in a way that drives meaningful engagement. I call it The Mission-Driven PR Framework.

What's different right now is that AI search doesn't reward any one of those things in isolation. It rewards the combination. An organization with media coverage but no thought leadership content has half the signal. One with great content but no earned credibility has the other half. The organizations getting found - and getting funded, getting chosen by customers, getting approached by partners - are the ones doing all three with intention.

This isn't a new approach. It's the one that's always worked. AI just made it impossible to ignore.

Until next week,
Rhiannon
